i landed in wisconsin not knowing anyone. i had only ever met erich and megan through video. but i knew i loved them. and even more importantly, i knew they loved each other.
and i trust them. so without hesitation i agreed to being picked up at the airport by friends of theirs, who were total strangers to me, and riding hours to the campground where they were getting married. on the way we stopped and bought the flowers for megan’s flower crown and i heard stories about their group of friends and the area in general. we arrived at the campgrounds to friends and family all working together to prepare for erich and megan’s wedding weekend. i hugged megan when i met her like we were old friends. because it felt that way. every person i met was incredibly friendly. it was amazing to see them all come together to create the best weekend for two people they love so much. i can’t tell you how many wonderful stories i heard, how many times i laughed and how sad i was to leave fearing i’d never see wisconsin or any of my new friends again.
sometimes you just get a feeling about people. and if you trust your gut, it can turn out to be one of the best decisions you ever make.
