A more relaxed photography experience.

Take your shoes off, get comfy and look around. You'll see, I'm a big fan of real people and real moments.

In many ways business is business but, to me, business is also personal.

I want to tell true stories. Beautiful stories. Stories with scuff marks. Ones that radiate joy and embrace imperfection.

I believe life is too short to try to be someone else. I want you to let go of everything you think a photoshoot SHOULD be and be you. Many of the photos we are taking are not just for you, they are for your kids. Your nieces. Your grandsons. Your friends. For the people who come after you. They may only ever know you by these photos, so the question is, how well do you want them to know you?

I'd love to capture the real you.

Can you imagine what it must be like as a child, for a stranger to come to your home one day, pack a single bag of your belongings - likely a garbage bag - and take you away from home?

You ride to their office where you sit for hours while a social worker desperately tries to find somewhere for you to sleep.

How scary would that be?

That has been reality for over 1,000 kids in the greater Charlotte area right now.

Another harsh and devastating reality - the number of children in foster care far exceeds the number of licensed foster homes.

I heard the statistics 10 years ago, and I jumped in any way I could. For me that was helping @nkonkaltaylor at @congregationsforkids. She wasn’t even sure what she needed, so I told her I could help build a social media presence across platforms so more people could hear more about the kids right here in our city who are in crisis. They need us. Their parents need us.

Recently, my brother @gracegodgiven and sister @kim_weimer (pictured) decided to become licensed foster parents in Cabarrus County through another great organization @agapeofnc. I’m so proud of this role they are committing to. It’s beautiful to watch how they have so much love, patience, and grace with the two sweet siblings they have had this summer. I pray they can continue to be a warm, bright light in a scary dark place for littles in limbo.

You don’t have to become a foster parent to make a difference. You can be a champion for kids in foster care in countless ways. If you don’t already follow @congregationsforkids, please do! Share their stories and spread the word about all the ways you can step in to help these kids experiencing foster care. Everyone can do something.
Just a moment for this skirt. 😍

@planksandpizza I love your style.

Also - single photo posts are making a comeback but let’s not forget I never stopped making them. 😜
If you need me, don’t. I’ll get back to you Tuesday. ✌🏼
If you only ever get creative to get paid, you’re doing it wrong. 🙃

Office space.

It’s like a game of I spy.
All the copying and trickery is wearing me out.

Use your unique voice.
Stop chasing trends.
Stop mimicking others.
Stop the rage bait.
It’s watering down your brand.

Is it relevant?
Does it educate, entertain or inspire your ideal client?
Yes? Post it.
If you see this, tell me how hot it is where you live today. I’m in Lake Norman and it’s the surface of the sun today.
