there are a million reasons you aren’t supposed to pick favorites. but what’s hard to explain to all of your couples is that you are going to have favorites. if you consider yourself an artist in this field, it’s in your nature. the most basic motivation to do this job is to create art. there may be 100 other reasons you do it, but the most simple is just that… create art.
and with art, you seek inspiration.
you look around you
and then you look again to see if you can see if differently.
and hopefully all of the elements will align to create the vision you see in your head. this doesn’t always happen. it’s not always about the person, the couple, the family. it’s about the chemistry, the backdrop, the light, the mood. there are elements you can’t even verbalize, it’s just a feeling. and when that happens, you file it under favorites in your heart and ultimately your head.
favorites all have three things in common for me:
love.
trust.
authenticity.

when i met up with her for her bridal shoot, i couldn’t predict the hour and a half that would follow. it went something like this…
