i get asked all the time if i photograph families, or newborns, or pretty much anything other than weddings/engagements. the answer is yes. typically i don’t share this work on my blog because i barely have time to blog weddings, let alone all the awesome life moments in between. but i’m challenging myself to get better about this. especially when it comes to my favorite kind of “portrait” sessions. which are really portraits of life. glimpses into what it’s like every day when a family plays and cuddles and laughs. and even those moments when it takes two people to dress a toddler for her pictures. it’s those moments of reality that make me do a double take when i’m editing. i love the challenge of showing you someone’s personality just from an image. more than anything, i like photographing people in their homes, in their element, where you can get an idea of who they really are without props and pinterest boards and posing. i need to share these so much more. becoming a mom has made me appreciate these real moments more than ever. and i cannot wait to get some taken of my family this fall when we go hunting for pumpkins. here are a few of my favorite frames from my day with betsy and jason and their sweet little s. so happy to know this family.
